I’m so close to the sun right now.

On my back is a really silly, really dark sunburn/tan line from doing my homework in the school’s courtyard for half an hour before I couldn’t take being so sweaty and went inside. I’m not complaining; I love heat. Which has gone away again. In fact, the same day that I got that sun burn, I pulled on a hoodie. Sigh.

In other news, I went with Marisol (my cultural assistant) and her friends to another nearby little city called Coatepec, which is famous for its coffee. I don’t actually like coffee. But I tried esquite, which is sold from the same venders with the corn on the cob (elote) covered in mayo, chile, cheese, and all kinds of other condiments. Basically, that’s what esquite is, sans cob. I’m proud to say that I can now successfully eat cooked vegetables sold on the Mexican streets. I still don’t have the spicy food thing down, though. The little bit of chile in my Styrofoam cup made my eyes water. We also climbed a hill to get a good view of the city from above. Sorry that’s not terribly evident in the picture.

I went to my first salsa club this weekend! It was really fun. I also had my first problem with a creeper following me around town for over an hour. That wasn’t as fun.
