This last week I have discovered some neat little places in Xalapa. There´s a lot of atmosphere at a little cafe maybe ten feet from my house and a cheap, crowded bar I´d walked by many times without entering. I wish I had tried them out sooner.
Another place is a little pink diner, shamelessly lacking in authentic Mexican culture. While we waited for the poodle-skirt-wearing waitress to bring us our milkshakes, we listened to 60´s music and chose to play Uno from the GAME CLOSET behind an Elvis curtain. It was fantastic, and I really wish that it were in Newton so I could get a job there this summer (No, I still don´t have a summer job lined up).
Last Friday was my last chance to catch the Xalapa Orchestra. I had given up on it when it starting downpouring rain and my last final was scheduled during the time I had planned to walk across town to buy tickets. Fortunately, someone at my school was handing out FREE tickets and the rain slowed down, so I made it! I thought it lived up to its reputation.
In other news, I´m running out of everything. I spent money on toothpaste, deoderant, and shampoo this week. I thought about holding out for a few days, but I learned quickly how important these things are to my happiness.
Disneylatino.com is blocked at my school. Why?
