I’m also trying to squeeze in some procrastinated interviews and school observations so that I feel a little better about my seminar. I went to a high school this morning, where all the kids are still required to wear face-masks, and the teacher gloves. Everyone's been convinced that the face-masks don't do much against the flu, so I wonder if maybe the epidemic is just an excuse to try to prevent school germs in general.
Some of the BCA kids are leaving this week already. I’m glad that I’ll have a few days after classes end before I fly back to the U.S. (May 30), but I’m anticipating being antsy and a bit of a wreck that last week; I’m not a fan of transition periods.
It’s been raining like crazy here lately! I never expect it in the morning, but when the afternoon rolls around it absolutely pours. My host-mom tells me that the rainy season usually starts in June, but it looks like it came a couple of weeks early this year. My Thursday evening class was entertaining in that my adorable, pregnant Translation teacher stood in front of the six of us students who didn’t wimp out and go home during the flu scare, yelling over the downpour. No one suggested closing the door or the windows because it was a stuffy day.
