Tepoztlan

Yesterday, the BCA group took a trip to the city of Tepoztlan about an hour away from Cuernavaca. There, we did a 45-min. hike up to where a small pyramid stands. The climb was pretty steep, but beautiful. When we descended, we went to the market area where we tried quesadillas de champilines (grasshoppers), a local specialty. OK, honestly, I only had a bite of a friend’s. I think it would have been easier if the bugs weren’t so visible. Or crunchy. Aside from the texture and sight, they weren’t that bad. I thought it kind of tasted like spinach, but maybe I was just trying to connect it to something familiar. Another cool thing about Tepoztlan was a mural that was made entirely of various grains. I liked that.

  1. I think we did that hike last Interterm and I about DIED. Also, I can't believe you tried grasshoppers! The take-home lesson here is clearly that you are way more hardcore than I am.
